- Introduction 2022nov20 "TrooperPBA" is our short, nick name for a union of state police offucers in New York State. The full name is "POLICE BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION NEW YORK STATE TROOPERS, INC." New York State's state police officers are called "troopers." New York State's state police (and the FBI, we think) investigated TrooperPBA in early 2023. There was at least one search warrant. The union is closely related to another corporation, TrooperPBA30 (NYS Troopers PBA Signal 30 Fund Inc). TrooperPBA created TrooperPBA30 in 2005. "Signal 30" is a state police officer's urgent, radio request for help. As far as we know, TrooperPBA30 is a charity for educational purposes. A "signal 30" happens in an emergency. As far as we know, TrooperPBA30, as mentioned on our main page about NYSCOPBA, gave $5,000 to NYSCOPBA in 2019. We don't know if the money was for education.
